my hubby went to a spanish congo and it seems that they operate a little differently.
is this accurate?
example, i don't think my father in law goes out in service, and he's a big ol' witness.
Just from my experience, I saw way more cleavage at a Spanish District Convention than the English one.

If they remembered the theme, any relevent points or scriptures delivered from a public talk given by a fellow elder in the very same congregation just two or three weeks ago.
Put them on the spot. See if they know or even care. What will their reaction be like? It will just go to show how much they REALLY are paying attention.
Heck, I'll try my own suggestion at the next meeting.

at the agm it was announced that all elders in the us will attend a weeks 5 days kingdom ministry school next year.
there will be a different class held at patterson each week until all us elders have attended.
not sure about other countries.
If this one week exclusive school for elders is true, whether at Patterson or at local Assembly Halls, I'm positive that not every single elder can attend.
Each congregation will send elders according to the individual elder's ability and availablity. Then those who would attend can take extensive notes and relay information they learned to the other elders in their congregation who could not attend the week long course.
This way the congregation can still be run and overseen by any remaining elders who aren't "privileged" to attend for the week.
This is my take on this.

this apparent change to the "generation" is pretty major i think.. when we consider all of the changes in understanding (i mean flashes of light!.
the 1995 change extended this old system by detaching the generation from 1914.. then the may 2007 wt qfr detached the gathering of the anointed from 1935.. now the latest change detaches the generation from all mankind except the small group of anointed.. and because of the 1935 detachment this could run for quite sometime.. most r & f jws will embrace this with both hands.
for me that is my greatest concern - millions will not even stop to think that we only had a flash of light about.
When people do what Barbara Anderson did and make an obvious mockery out of their Memorial ritual
??? I must have missed this. Is there a link?
It wasn't Barbara Anderson. It was Brenda Lee.

whenever i used to get hassled for not pioneering, i love passing along this little nugget of wisdom: "can you imagine what it would be like if everyone in the congregation pioneered?
no one would make any money to put in the contribution box, donate for gas, or buy groceries for the pioneers!
everyone would starve!".
When I'm approached or introduced to a JW who I never met before and this person asks me, "Are you a pioneer?" My usual reply is, "Are you asking me if I report 17.5 hours a week in the ministry?" Of course, this will embarass quite a few and they will change the subject.
However, for the few who are stuck-up elitist pioneers and are proud of it and they will answer my reply in the affirmative by them saying "YES", they do put in 17.5 hours a week. Then my reply would be, "Are you donating your contributions regularly? If so, then how much are you donating?" Many will get gruff and say that it isn't my business.
I would say, "Exactly!" and then tell them that they never aparently read Matthew 6:2-4. I then would remark, "If you read this scripture and understood the principle of it, then this ridiculous and irrelevant conversation would never have been started by you." They then would smile sheepishly while trying to either pretend to know that scripture or to get away and find someone else to talk to. Before anything else, I'd find a copy of the Bible right then and there and hand it to them and have them read it right in front of me.
The chuckle I get from this is that they never got their initial question answered from me. That is what frustrates those haughty pioneers. And yes, they never come back and talk to me. They know that the scriptures I can pull out will bite them too hard.

basically, i was forced into it.
believe me, baptism was the last thing i wanted to do.
but i was already in my early twenties, and the rank and file were like why don't you get baptised!
Threatened so that I wouldn't die at Armageddon. I need to get baptized in order to receive the mark (Ezekiel 9:3,4)
Guilt trip used in order to get baptized to become an approved full-fledged publisher so that I would not to be bloodguilty (Ezekiel 33:6,8)
Intimidated into baptism so that I can now have a good conscience (1Peter 3:21)

page 27-29 (study article): both of these sisters, lois and ruth, have unbelieving husbands.
article explains that this can create challenges when there is a wedding or a funeral.
lois follows her "bible-trained" conscience and decides that she cannot attend with her husband because she doesn't want to be under pressure to break her integrity and certainly doesn't want to embarrass her husband.
Didn't the apostle Paul and other first century followers of Christ go to synagogues even after they because "full-fledged" Christians?

if you can answer yes to the following questions.... .
1) did you have a full share in the ministry?
2) did you have a desire to do more?
If you can answer yes to the following questions....
And yes, basically I can answer in the affirmative to almost all of those questions.
And yes, at the time when I was "accomplishing much", it was sweet. It was because I looked good to others in the congregation. Pointedly, it was only to show the brothers/sisters that I mattered and that they could find substance in me. That I was a worthy servant of JW.
Eventually it became a painstaking experience to maintain that "outer appearance". The motive was wrong. It was because of guilt.
Truthseeker, I liked the way you used JW lingo and lined up the thoughts like that so precisely.
I'm tempted to copy your list and leave it lying somewhere in the KH. Those words words are mirrored in Jw-ism. ONLY JWs know that type of "speak".
However, seeing it compiled so nicely, I'm almost sure that someone in the congregation who stumbles upon this list can see the guilt factor in it....and be repulsed by it. Actually they may be "stumbled" by it. Ironic, wouldn't it be?

to all,.
i wish a thread would start where in everyone would explain why they picked the avatar they have.
i have not found one, yet..... v.
Taken from the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived publication chapter 82.
Accompanying scriptural text : (Luke 13:24) "Exert yourselves vigorously to get in through the narrow door, because many, I tell YOU, will seek to get in but will not be able,
Being raised as a JW, I was taught to struggle and contend in order to get approved by Jehovah. It burned me out. Now I realize that God is far more lenient and loving than the WTS portrayed Him to be. This avatar is a reminder of what energy I wasted in the past and to reassure me that Jehovah gives me strength that is not of my own.
